African craftsmanship brings colour, character and creativity into everyday life. From decorative ceramics to colourful lampshades, handmade pieces can transform ordinary spaces into places that reflect personal style and cultural expression.

Naskia Handmade recently took part in the Bizarre Bazaar Festival: The Global Village Edition, held on 26 and 27 September 2026 at the Kenya School of TVET in Gigiri, Nairobi. The event brought together a range of creative businesses and vendors, giving visitors an opportunity to explore different products and discover new brands.

For Naskia Handmade, the exhibition was an opportunity to showcase distinctive pieces that celebrate African-inspired design, handmade products and creative home decor.

A Closer Look at Our Exhibition Display

One of the highlights of the exhibition was the range of products on display. The collections featured bold patterns, contrasting colours and decorative designs that bring personality to everyday objects.

Our display included colourful lampshades, patterned ceramic mugs, bowls, plates and decorative vases. Each collection offered a different way to introduce artistic details into the home.

The lampshades stood out through their use of rich colours and fabric patterns. Shades of blue, brown, red and orange created a varied display, showing how lighting accessories can also contribute to a room's overall design.

The ceramic collection featured a different approach to decoration. Black and white geometric patterns, striped designs and colourful motifs appeared across the mugs, bowls and vases. These pieces combine everyday functionality with decorative appeal, making them suitable for both practical use and display.

Handmade Ceramics for Everyday Living

Ceramics are a simple way to bring artistic expression into everyday routines. A patterned mug can make a morning cup of tea feel a little more personal, while a decorative bowl can add interest to a dining table or shelf.

At the exhibition, our ceramic display included mugs in different patterns and sizes, alongside plates, bowls and decorative vases. The variety showed how coordinated colours and patterns can work across different types of homeware.

These pieces can suit different interior styles, from homes that embrace bold prints to spaces that use smaller decorative accents. They can also make thoughtful gifts for people who appreciate distinctive home accessories.

Colourful Lampshades That Bring Spaces to Life

Lighting plays an important role in the atmosphere of a room. Lamps provide illumination, but their shades can also introduce colour, texture and pattern into an interior.

The lampshades featured in our exhibition display explored this idea through a variety of fabric designs. Some featured repeating geometric patterns, while others used tie-dye-inspired effects and contrasting colours.

A patterned lampshade can become a focal point in a bedroom, living room or reading corner. It can also complement cushions, rugs and other decorative accessories to create a more coordinated space.

For anyone looking to personalise their home, decorative lighting offers a practical starting point.

Celebrating African-Inspired Design

African-inspired design draws on a wide range of colours, patterns, materials and creative traditions. These influences can be seen in fashion, textiles, ceramics, baskets and home accessories.

At Naskia Handmade, we appreciate products that bring character into everyday life and offer something distinctive for the home. Our exhibition display reflected this interest through patterned ceramics and colourful lighting accessories.

We believe that home decor can be both useful and expressive. The objects we choose for our homes can reflect our tastes, our interests and the kinds of spaces we want to create.
